During our first year of  Musicians in the Schools, fourteen of the Boise Philharmonic professional core musicians visited more than 275 second grade classrooms throughout the Boise, Nampa and Meridian school districts.   Our goal is to visit even more classrooms each year.

Each musician discusses and demonstrates the various sounds of their instruments (pitch, tone).  By engaging the children in such a small environment, it becomes relavent to the children and support the school curriculum.

Multiple studies have shown that developing listening skills through music has a postive impact on reading skills. Visit our blog and discover some of the experiences through the eyes of the musicians.
