Children's Concerts

Boise Philharmonic's Children's Concerts are an annual event, dating back more than a decade. Each year the concerts are designed to correlate with standard Idaho curriculum, a collective effort by the school district's Superintendents, educators and the Boise Philharmonic.

Thanks to our generous sponsors, these performances are free to local school children.

Each year, nearly 14,000 children attend these exciting orchestral performances. For many students, this event is a first opportunity to hear live symphonic music.

2011-2012 Season

This year’s concert features A Musical Tour of America, traveling across a geographical landscape of rivers, mountains, oceans and the Grand Canyon. It includes Grofe’s Grand Canyon Suite and Symphony No. 9, From the New World, by Antonin Dvorak. Also featured will be a new composition written just for us by Idaho Composer, David Alan Earnest, depicting an airplane ride across America.

In January 2011, the Boise Philharmonic will perform nine full orchestral concerts leading students through a galactic adventure through the Solar System. Gustav Holst's The Planets will be performed and in tandem, Barbara Morgan, Astronaut & Teacher shares her personal experience in space. Prior to coming to the concerts, most students have completed a unit on the planets provided by the Education Director of the Boise Philharmonic.
