Children's Concerts: Science and Music


Children's Concerts:

Each year, nearly 14,000 children attend these exciting orchestral performances.  For many students, this event is a first opportunity to hear live symphonic music.  We would be pleased to host your school this year.  Many concerts have already filled up, but there are limited availability in the performances listed below.

2009-2010 Children's Concerts Dates:

January 26, 2010 @ Meridian Middle School, Meridian
January 27, 2010 @ The Morrison Center on BSU Campus
January 28, 2010 @ NNU's Swayne Auditorium on NNU Campus

The concerts are about 45 minutes in length.

Cost: FREE! 
Thanks to corporate and foundation sponsorships.

Age:  The program is geared for third - fifth graders

Availability: Reservations on a first-come, first-served basis.

This year's concert features Music and Weather and includes music by Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Brahms and Mozart.  The focus of this musical experience is on layers of clouds and similar characteristics of music.  Don't miss this opportunity to hear Idaho's oldest and largest performing arts organization in concert!



Musical Kids Classes:


This course is organized into weekly interactive classes for preschool-aged children and runs in sequence from September to June.  Rhythm, melody, movement, reading musical notation, instruments and singing activities encourage development of the voice, ear, and physical coordination.  Taught by Kristin Sample (B.A. Music Education and Piano Performance,) these classes are based on the award-winning Musik Garten curriculum for early childhood.
