Folks have a lot of different ways to ring in the new year. Boise, Idaho’s Thomas Paul is celebrating 2011 by releasing a funky new collection of songs entitled “Goodbye, Waterloo…”
“Goodbye, Waterloo…” has a completely different groove from Paul’s previous release, the largely guitar-based “House on Fire.” That groove hits home from the very first electric piano notes of the funky leadoff track “The Ride at All Times.” And the funk doesn’t let up. This album would have been at home on the Creed Taylor International (CTI) record label, the preeminent home of serious funk and jazz grooves in the ’70s. Read more.
